"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light." (I Peter 2:9)

This quotation from St Peter's first letter is the background to our understanding about Vocation.

It is always God's initiative to call us into life, and life with Him. We are called because God has chosen us. And this call is first of all to be all that we can be. It is about being the right person, before doing the right thing.

As we grow in our understanding of this call we will be able to hear God's invitation more clearly to live a particular way of life either as a Priest, deacon, in the consecrated or religious life or as a married or single person.

Only where God is seen does life truly begin.
Only when we meet the living God in Christ do we know what life is.
We are not some casual and meaningless product of evolution.
Each of us is the result of a thought from God.
Each of us is willed,
each of us is loved,
each of us is necessary.
There is nothing more beautiful than to be surprised by the Gospel,
by the encounter with Christ.
There is nothing more beautiful than to know Him
and to speak to others of our friendship with Him.
