Welcome!
Thank you for visiting Brentwood Vocations. This website is a part of the work of the Diocesan Vocations Team set up in April 2005 in the Brentwood Diocese to promote a culture of vocation amongst all the members of the Church. The site is intended to help people share information about what is happening in the diocese from a vocational point of view. An example of this is the three vocation evenings for men discerning a possible vocation to the priesthood which are being held in April, May and June during 2008. Please see the events page for more information.
We believe that building a culture of vocation within the Church is of the greatest importance since 'vocation' is not first about 'doing this or that' but coming to a wonderful knowledge that each person is called in to existence by God, loved by Him, and has a unique part to play in His redemptive plan for the world as they go about their daily lives. This means helping people to ask three questions: Where do I come from; Who Am I really; and Where am I going? If we do not know our true origin, identity and destiny then how can we respond to Christ's call to follow him?
From this conscious understanding of our dignity as sons and daughters of God comes the awakening of specific vocations to Priesthood, Diaconate, Religious and Consecrated life, Married and Single life and the strength to say 'yes' to what God asks of us.
Rather than duplicate material that can be found elsewhere you will find links to much useful information. We hope you will find the website useful and we would be happy to receive your comments.
